10 October 2023 (Fairfax, VA): The Community Foundation for Northern Virginia held its annual Raise the Region Gala at the Hilton McLean Tyson’s Corner this past Friday, to a completely sold-out room. More than 850 people participated, between in-person and virtual participation options. The black-tie event celebrated a rousing sense of renewal for the region and for the Community Foundation, and honored Sumeet Shrivastava with the Community Leadership Award. Through the course of the evening, during a silent auction, live raffle, and pledged donations, CFNOVA was able to raise over $750,000 in funds that will go directly towards supporting a more equitable Northern Virginia. We would like to thank our sponsors, our Board of Directors who gave at record levels this year, our Gala Committee who worked tirelessly to create a unique and engaging auction, our emcees Anne Altman and Arun Gupta, the staff of the Community Foundation, and the many volunteers who helped set up and staff the event.
