Amy Takayama-Perez Memorial Fund for George Mason University
Established: July 18, 2023
The Amy Takayama-Perez Memorial Fund for George Mason University has been established to honor and remember Amy’s amazing life and to support two summer programs at George Mason University. Amy was a higher education advocate who dedicated her career to enhancing college access. She was a proud George Mason University graduate who spent 23 years working at her alma mater culminating in the role of Dean of Admissions. Amy was the visionary who created the Washington Journalism and Media Conference and the Washington Youth Summit on the Environment, and any grants from the Fund, made possible by your donations, will benefit both of these programs. Her legacy serves as a reminder of the privilege and responsibility we have to improve the world through education, compassion, and dedicating time to others.
Amy prioritized her family above all else. She was married to Rick, her high school sweetheart and was the mother of two amazing children, Kalea and Kai, a current George Mason University student. Team Perez are avid Boston sports fans and Amy relished in the community sports provided. Amy fought a courageous 2 year battle against Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) ultimately passing at 48 years old.
