$22,750 in Grants Awarded to Support Military Personnel and their Families
The Community Foundation for Northern Virginia recently awarded $22,750 in grants to support military personnel and their families through its Military Families and their Personnel Fund.$10,000 has been awarded to The PenFed Foundation, which provides financial aid and counseling to Military Heroes nationwide including active duty personnel, veterans, and their families and caregivers. The PenFed caregiver support program provides scholarship support for the caregiver to complete a degree or obtain a certification that will help them professionally, which, as the primary breadwinner, also helps the veteran and their family. They also provide financial aid to secure child care, to facilitate veteran care.
EveryMind’s Serving Together program has been awarded $12,750. ServingTogether exists to meet the needs of our veterans, service members and their families – getting them to the right provider to meet their unique need and doing so efficiently and in the least amount of time. The grant will support EveryMind’s growth as they recently launched a partnership with Syracuse University's Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF) to bring their successful AmericaServes model to our region. This is the 16th market to launch an AmericaServes network, nationally transforming the ease with which veterans service members and their families’ access care and services as they navigate the civilian world upon exiting the military.
