The Community Foundation for Northern Virginia announced today that it has awarded over $250,000 in scholarships to more than one hundred area students to support their higher education goals beginning this fall. This year’s awards went to students pursuing either undergraduate or graduate degrees in areas like STEM, medicine, health, and education, as well as students planning to attend Northern Virginia Community College.
Scholarships recipients were recognized for academic achievement, character, financial need, and for demonstrating good citizenship at school, at home, and in the community.
“The Community Foundation’s scholarship funds are continuing to make educational dreams a reality for many students in our region,” said Bernard Mustafa, Board Chairman, the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia.
The Community Foundation manages and administers the funds for twenty-seven scholarships that support Northern Virginia students.
“These scholarships reflect Northern Virginia’s ongoing commitment to invest in the next generation,” said Eileen Ellsworth, President and CEO, the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia.
“This scholarship is super useful because it will relieve some financial burden on my loans that I will be getting,” Irene Chen, a student recipient of this year’s Booz Allen Hamilton Vision Scholarship.
This year’s scholarship winners were announced during Community Foundation’s Virtual Cocktails & Conversations event available here
