Craig Kendall Supports Philanthropy

This interview is with Craig Kendall, President & Founder of Financial Investments, Inc. Mr. Kendall has served as a Community Foundation Community Investment Funds committee volunteer.

How have you been involved with the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia over the years?

We have been actively involved with the Community Foundation for the last 5 years. We have helped extensive with the Community Investment Fund program. Each year we have contributed.

Equally important we have actively reviewed those community service grant applications that are submitted to the Community Foundation.

Why did you choose to partner with/support the Community Foundation?

The Community Foundation for Northern Virginia is perfect for us as we look to continually help our local community. The mission if the Community Foundation is to reach out and serve the community and to help those in the community that also are looking to give back to the community. They are able to reach out, touch, and keep in touch with those community service organizations in a manner that we could never do personally. They understand the community needs and areas of emphasis that are truly needed here in Northern Virginia.

What a perfect combination this has been and the Community Foundation fills these needs and services by effectively and efficiently matching those in the giving community with those in need in the community.

What does it mean to you to support these local needs?

The Community Foundation has done an excellent job of reaching out to the community and finding those community service organizations that are truly executing their missions in the area of the community expertise. This really helps us in finding those organizations that we are passionate about and are helping the community. We too are passionate about serving the community. Giving back to the community has always been very important to us. One of our organizations stated missions is for our employees and our company to really give back to the community both in terms of service and monetary contributions.

It’s easy to put the blinders on and focus on what goes on within your company’s four walls when times get tough. As a result, it’s been a difficult period for charities and non-profits. We know that. But we’ve never wavered from our commitment to the community, and that’s something I take a lot of pride in.

We look to help the community with dollars and with time and effort in giving back to the community. We do this here at work with our employees and hopefully this carries over with employees and their families also wanting to and enjoy in also in their personal efforts in giving back to the community.
