The Community Foundation for Northern Virginia is delighted to further partner with United Community by partially funding the COMMUN1TY+ Initiative, a project that aligns resources and efforts to support communities based on the needs expressed by residents of Mount Vernon and along the Route 1 Corridor.
It's goal is to have residents serve as leaders in bringing community voice to the forefront of policy and system development impacting neighborhoods in Mount Vernon, in the five areas of: Health, Safety, Child and Youth Wellbeing, Neighborhood Livability, and Economic Development. The program has been active since 2021.
Sari Raskin, the Community Foundation's Vice President of Grants and Community Leadership, said "We're so proud of the trusting relationship we've built with United Community over recent years, including partnering to fund tax preparation services for residents along the Route1 corridor in 2022. Our newest investment in UC will ensure that we continue to connect with and listen to the needs of our community. We look forward to seeing the incredible impact that United Community will continue to have.”
This funding builds on previous collaboration between United Community and the Community Foundation, stemming from 2022, where we funded tax preparation services, a program featured prominently at the 2022 Raise the Region Gala. The Community Foundation is delighted and excited to be extending our relationship with United Community, and we can't be more excited to see the incredible work they do in the years ahead.
