Fairfax, VA (January 15, 2025) – The Community Foundation for Northern Virginia is starting the new year with exciting news for nonprofits and students throughout the region. As of January 8th, applications are now open for the Foundation’s 2025 grants and scholarship cycles. Nonprofits are encouraged to apply for funding to support their community-focused initiatives, while students can apply for scholarships to advance their educational goals.

Grants for Nonprofit Organizations

The Foundation’s Community Investment Funds (CIF)Environment Fund, Lamond Fund, and Ross-Roberts Fund for the Arts competitive grant process will offer funding to nonprofit organizations addressing needs in areas including the arts, education, children & youth development, environment, intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental health, military personnel and their families, our aging neighbors, and safety net support. These grants are supported by charitable endowments managed by the Community Foundation, aimed at addressing current and emerging needs in the region.

Scholarships for Students

The Foundation is also offering a variety of scholarships to high school students who demonstrate commitment to academic excellence, leadership, and community service. The Community Foundation for Northern Virginia manages 35 scholarship funds that support Northern Virginia students pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees. Each fund is curated by a generous donor, wishing to make a difference for students in Northern Virginian and beyond. These donors partner with the Community Foundation to foster educational opportunities and supportive legacies.
