Fairfax, VA (April 17, 2025) – The Community Foundation for Northern Virginia has awarded $855,000 in grants to 51 nonprofit organizations across the region through the region through the Community Investment Funds (CIF)Environment Fund, and Ross-Roberts Fund for the Arts distributions. Individual grants range from $5,000 to $30,000. These grants are more than just funding—they represent the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia’s commitment to building a more resilient and inclusive region.

The Community Foundation awards strategic, general operating support grants that nonprofits can use flexibly at the discretion of their staff and board. The grantmaking process is transparent and community-driven, with 95 engaged, knowledgeable volunteers playing a key role in reviewing applications this year. Each grant awarded aligns with one or more of the Foundation’s four strategic pillars—guiding principles that shape its vision for a thriving, equitable community: Social and Economic Mobility, Opportunities for All, Inclusive Systems of Economic Growth, and Community Resilience. Grants are distributed through a variety of broad-based funds built over time to support the region’s evolving needs.
