Holland & Knight LLP
Megan Mocho is an attorney in Holland & Knight's Tysons office where she focuses on government and internal investigations for corporate and individual clients in the government contracts, healthcare, aerospace, intelligence, banking/financial services, education, pharmaceutical and medical device industries.
Megan is experienced in civil and criminal government enforcement matters involving procurement/grant fraud, healthcare fraud, public corruption, procurement integrity, financial crimes and whistleblower reprisal. She has particular experience under the False Claims Act (FCA), and regularly defends clients in qui tam actions brought by relators or the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ). She has successfully argued for dismissal and declination under the FCA and favorably settled parallel civil and criminal cases on behalf of her clients.
In addition to trying criminal jury trials to verdict, she has argued successfully before appellate and district courts. Megan conducts compliance program effectiveness reviews and advises on compliance program protocols.
Megan lives in Falls Church City where her children attend public school. In Megan’s words, her “5 year old son who has special needs has benefited greatly from the resources available in this community,” from which arises her keen interest in giving back to this community through our Community Foundation. She is from New Mexico and an entire immediate and extended family of entrepreneurs, which sparked her special affinity for small businesses. She followed that passion during law school, working for the U.S. Small Business Administration, the National Federation of Independent Business, and for the House Committee on Small Business. She continues to work on small business issues as part of Holland & Knight’s government contracts practice.
