Scott is a leader with extensive experience in philanthropy, nonprofit management, and community engagement. After many years in Richmond, Virginia, Scott relocated to Washington, DC in early 2024, bringing a wealth of expertise in equity-based solutions focused on early childhood development, affordable housing, and job creation.
In his current role as Strategy Officer at the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia, Scott serves as a trusted advisor to President & CEO Renée Byng Yancey, playing a pivotal role in shaping organizational strategies and identifying regional trends and opportunities. He excels at fostering strong partnerships and is deeply committed to driving the foundation’s long-term impact and success.
Previously, Scott served as Chief Impact Officer then Senior Consultant at the Community Foundation for a Greater Richmond, where he managed community engagement efforts, coordinated grant processes, and led initiatives such as the Central Virginia COVID Fund, raising over $7 million for nonprofits. His leadership extended to several major organizations, including Owens & Minor.
Scott holds a degree from the University of Virginia and a certificate from Cornell University. He has completed the HR Executive Program at the Center for Creative Leadership and the Leadership Metro Richmond program, where he was awarded the 2008 LMR Community Servant Leader Award. He also completed the LEAD Virginia program and participated in the Bloomberg/Harvard City Leadership Initiative.
Outside of work, Scott is an avid traveler, with just a few U.S. states left to visit to claim all 50. He enjoys photography and has recently taken up oil painting, attempting to capture the beauty of his photographs. Scott is also working on his historic home and his garden in Charleston, SC, and enjoys playing tennis and pickleball. Above all, he cherishes spending time with family and long-term friends, especially with the recent joy of welcoming two new grandchildren into the family.
