Jackson Robert Greene Memorial Athletic Scholarship Fund
Fairfax
The Jackson Robert Greene Memorial Athletic Scholarship recipient is someone who embodies daily life through love and vibrant spirit.Jackson Greene was a 2012 graduate of Herndon High School where he played football for 4 years and basketball for 1 year. He also participated in the Herndon Optimist Football and Basketball programs for many years. Sports, whether participating in or being a spectator of, were a big part of Jackson and the Greene family’s lives. Jackson’s many friends came from the sports teams he was on and being part of the team was much more important to him than being the star of the team. Jackson was very competitive but his approach to sports, and his life, is best defined by the quote by President Harry Truman, “It is amazing what you can accomplish if you do not care who gets the credit.” Dedication to his teammates and positive sportsmanship were the foundation of his passion for sports and he was an example for others to emulate.
Jackson was tragically killed in a car accident in September 29, 2019 at the age of 25. Jackson's daily impact on the lives around him, from when he was a child, through high school and college and beyond, are unmeasurable. His loss is felt far and wide. The Jackson Robert Greene Memorial Athletic Scholarship was created to continue Jackson's legacy of sportsmanship and kindness. The recipient shall be someone who approaches the world with a vibrant spirit, who puts the success of their teammates and the team above individual success and carries that spirit off the playing field into their daily life.
